Installation Instruction of Internet CD-ROM Database Connection

CD-ROM database is based on our library purchased CDs installed on the library host computer. So far, access to this database is only available to the user on the campus network but not to those off-campus. By setting up standard network protocol , you can connect to our internet CD-ROM server from the offices, labs, or dorms in the campus. Besides, it allows multi-user access to the CD-ROM database via campus network, offering a convenient inquiry service.

  • Internet Connection Settings: The CD-ROM database in our library requires the user to set up TCP/IP, HTTP, NetBEUI or IPX/SPX, so the WINDOWS system user must set up your network properly in order to connect to the database. Windows95 user please log in with Windows or Client for Microsoft Networks as the following picture shows.

  • The Steps to Install TTSLINK: Before installation, make sure that your network configuration is set up according to our system requests.
    1. First download ttsinst.exe to C:\TEMP (If you don't have a TEMP file in your computer, please build a C:\TEMP file by yourself)
    2. Close Netscape or IE browser, and then double click "ttsinst.exe" to install the program. When the following window appears, you have finished the installation.


  • Troubleshooting Guide for:

    •  If you are the user of Windows NT, 2000, XP, do not log in with the Administration account after booting your computer, or the connection to our database may fail.

    •  TTSLINK program need to use the internet disks M, N to make a search, if the disks M, N have been occupied, please interrupt your connection first.

    If the installation of TTSLINK is finished but the Internet CD-ROM database shows the message that it can not find the host computer, please choose a place to set up the lmhost connection according to your location (the dormitory or the teaching district)
